High alert declared in Swat, Civil and Military on same page for monsoon arrangements- Riaz Mehsud

Commissioner Malakand Division Riaz khan Mehsud visited the Flood Control Room established at the DC Swat Office in Gulkada Saidu Sharif. The Acting Deputy Commissioner Swat Mohammed Fawad Khan briefed him on the facilities and arrangements being made at the control room on this occasion. He told that it has been also equipped with information technology including the WiFi and internet facilities.

The Commissioner Malakand Division later while addressing joint meeting of rescue and relief officials as well as the media personnel, revealed that monsoon flood relief funds have been formed at every district administration level with immediate provision of Rs 20 million each whereas additional amounts of Rs 50 million for each district administration have also been demanded from the provincial government. He further said that due to the high flood situation in the Malakand division, every district administration has established flood control room to monitor flood and rescue situation in case of flash floods in any part of the Malakand Division and to help the affected people of the concerned areas. Similarly he said he has chalked out a comprehensive plan with active involvement of the security forces and district administration. He said that Civil and Military administrations were on same page in respect of monsoon arrangements and relief activities.

While giving briefing to media on the measures taken by the commissioner office, Riaz Khan Mehsud said that the divisional and districts administrations have cancelled all the leaves of the officers and officials of all the govt departments and high alert has been put in the hospitals.  Likewise, he said, a plan with security forces has been devised to maximum facilitates the people.

To report the flash floods in the area, cloudburst or any human loss, the commissioner has shared the number of the DCs while he would be also available on phone round the clock.

Riaz khan Mehsud said the provincial government will issue Rs500 million to each district of the Malakand division in connection with monsoon flood relief funds. He said heavy machinery has also been provided to every district for handling any untoward situation during monsoon flash floods.
