PM Imran allows ECL-listed PTM leaders to travel to Afghanistan

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday granted one time permission to two leaders of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTI) to travel of Afghanistan. The premier intervened after Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar were barred from travelling to Kabul by the Federal Investigation Agency. The FIA has intercepted them as their names were placed on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Both parliamentarians are going to the neibouring country to attend the oath taking ceremony of Ashraf Ghani, who has been declared winner in the much-delayed election results. After receiving instruction from the prime minister, the Ministry of Interior has granted one time permission to both PTM leaders to travel abroad. The two lawmakers were arrested last year by the security officials over the allegations of attacking Pakistan Army check post in North Waziristan. Later, the Peshawar High Court released them on bail in September 2019.
