Lack of funding cripples aid operations in Yemen: UN humanitarian chief

UN Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mark Lowcock says due to a shortage of funding in Yemen more than sixty-six percent of people are considered food insecure. Speaking at UN Security Council, Lowcock said aid agencies are now reaching only about nine million people a month in that's down from more than thirteen million at the start of the year. He said the window to prevent famine in Yemen is closing as eighty percent of the population is dependent on aid but UN data has revealed billions of dollars in funding shortfalls.
