United Nations has condemned Israel's announcement to build new settlement units in the West Bank. In a press statement, UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov said the new settlement activity will undermine the achievement of the two-state solution. He termed the construction of the settlements as illegal under international law and called upon Israeli to stop building new settlements in the occupied West Bank. Meanwhile, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit has also condemned the construction of new settlements by Israel. He called upon the international community to fulfill its responsibilities regarding attempts by Israel to build more homes for settlers.
