Representatives of Afghan govt & Taliban to hold talks on the situation in Afghanistan


Representatives of the Afghan government and the Taliban are meeting in Doha, Qatar today (Saturday) to hold talks on the situation in Afghanistan. In a statement, the spokeswoman of the Afghan government's negotiating team in Doha said several high-ranking officials including former President Hamid Karzai and Head of High Council for National Reconciliation in Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah are heading for the talks. Meanwhile, Afghan forces clashed with the Taliban in Spin Boldak after launching an operation to retake the key southern border crossing with Pakistan.
