$1.5b pledged to curb Sudan's slide into 'death and destruction': UN

Islamabad(Spotstory): Donors at the UN conference have pledged close to 1.5 billion dollars to combat the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and help its neighbors who host the refugees fleeing the fighting. Addressing the conference in Geneva, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Sudan is descending into death and destruction at unprecedented speed. He urged donors to step in and curb the unfolding catastrophe. On this occasion, the UN's Humanitarian Chief Martin Griffiths said the humanitarian crisis will require sustained financial support.
