Council of Europe assembly allows Russia's return to body

The Council of Europe's parliamentary assembly has agreed to allow Russia to return to the body.

According to media reports, despite strong opposition from Ukraine, Council of Europe member states agreed that Russia could present a delegation to participate in the election of a new secretary general for the council on Wednesday.

Russia was stripped of its voting rights over the annexation of Crimea five years before.
