Chinese President Xi Jinping and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron have declared that the Paris Climate Pact is irreversible.
In a joint statement after the talks of both leaders in Beijing on Wednesday, they reaffirmed "their firm support for the Paris accord which they consider as a compass for strong action on climate.
French President Macron in his remarks also deplored the choices made by others without naming the United States.
Earlier, the United States had presented its withdrawal letter to the United Nations.
