More than a million confirmed cases of coronavirus have been registered so far. According to the latest figures from the United States' Johns Hopkins University, nearly 53,000 people have died and more than 210,000 have recovered from COVID-19 so far. The US accounts for the most cases and Italy has the highest death toll with over 13,000 deaths from the pandemic. It took a month and a half for the first 100,000 cases to be registered. A million was reached after a doubling in confirmed cases over the past week.
