A high-level meeting chaired by Commissioner Malakand Division Syed Zaheerul Islam reviews Anti-Polio Campaign, Immunization, and Corona epidemic situation


Swat: A meeting was held at Commissioner's Office Saidu Sharif under the chairmanship of Commissioner Malakand Division Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam to review the arrangements for the national anti-polio campaign in Malakand Division.  DIG Malakand Division Abdul Ghafoor Afridi also attended.  The meeting reviewed the steps taken for the upcoming anti-polio campaign, performance of districts and polio teams in the previous anti-polio campaign, general performance regarding immunization and anti-corona measures, and security arrangements in the districts. Deputy Commissioners, District Health Officers, and concerned officials attended.  Area Coordinator Dr. Khawaja Irfan gave a detailed briefing to the meeting.  Presiding over the meeting, Commissioner Malakand Division Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam said that they are at a critical juncture in eradicating dangerous viruses like polio.  "We have to include ourselves in the list of nations that have eradicated polio. We do not want Pakistan to be identified with polio.  Preparations for the upcoming anti-polio campaigns should be completed" said Commissioner. Regarding the performance of the districts, Commissioner Malakand Division Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam said that the overall performance regarding polio in the districts of Malakand Division is satisfactory and this continuity should be maintained and special focus should be given on the areas where there are problems. Commissioner Malakand Division Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam directed the District Health Department and District Administration and Police to extend full cooperation to the polio teams in this regard.  He said that the Malakand division would soon be polio-free if the continuity of excellent performance continued.  Reviewing the third wave of corona and vaccination in the meeting, Commissioner Malakand Division said that tourism activities in Malakand have resumed therefore special attention needed to curtail Coronavirus.
